Kyana is the only one of her kind, a half-breed that most fear.  That is until she is one of the ones to help save mankind from the gates of hell opening.  She has special skills as a tracker and is able to track down the ones who are the ‘Chosen.’  She has been entrusted with the mission that could save them all, and she has no choice but to accept.  If she fails, then mankind, demigods and gods will all perish.  What she is not prepared for is with who they her assign to work.  It is of course the one man who she can’t forget and who rejected her 10 years ago, Ryker.  Her day is just getting better and better.

Kyana and Ryker form a shaky alliance and not only do they discover an ancient cult with dangerous motives, but they learn a lot about each other in the process.  Can they survive long enough to find the “key” that will keep an ancient god from destroying them all?

I absolutely love books that pull me in, teach me a little mythology, and don’t let me go until the very end.  Ascension is one of those stories and I have no choice but to Joyfully Recommend it.  I love Kyana and all her faults, but there is no doubt that in the end she will do anything for her ‘family.’ There are a few twists and turns in Ascension that will leave you speechless and thinking back as to how well the story was set up.

I laughed and cried while reading Ascension and I am dying for the next in the series. I have to know what happens to Ryker, Kyana and Haven.  This writing team is harmonious and weaves a wonderful story, which leaves you impatient for the next book.
