Rachel Bonner was raised in an enlightened community but never really fit in there. She tried to find a place to fit and work in the common world, but again she just didn’t find a comfortable place for herself.  In between, Rachel visited her aunts on Rainshadow Island and had an adventure that blanked out the entire night.  Rachel’s talent is unusual as she can see the darkest of auras and work with those that have them.  Now Rachel is back on the Island and determined to make a life for herself in the only place that has ever really felt like home.  She has even been adopted by a dust bunny pet, Darwina, to begin her new life.

Harry Sebastian is the head of security for his family company; a family that just happens to own the Preserve, the mysterious fenced off area that takes up the majority of Rainshadow Island.  Harry is also the only descendent whose gifts are the most like that legendary pirate who first discovered the Island.  Harry has been called to Rainshadow because something is going on inside the Preserve and it is beginning to threaten those that call Rainshadow home.

The minute that Rachel and Harry meet, he knows that she somehow is the key to finding out what is going on and her missing night might just break his investigation wide open.  Rachel is attracted to Harry and even Darwina likes him, a very good sign; however, she is not happy to find out that she is the number one suspect on his list from the get go.  Rachel agrees to help Harry so that she can prove herself innocent and to prove that the residents on Rainshadow have nothing to do with whatever is making the Preserve so active.  The investigation turns dangerous as Rachel and Harry begin to ask questions and look for answers.  The passion between Rachel and Harry becomes just as hot as the Preserve.  Rachel’s memories are coming back slowly, but will she find the key to unlock all of them before it’s too late for not only Harry and herself but also everyone who calls Rainshadow Island home?  More importantly can Harry keep them all safe when the final answers come clear?

A mysterious island, a dangerous and unknown preserve and a hot passion combine together in The Lost Night.  I could see the sparks that came off of Rachel and Harry and knew this was going to be one hot book.  It was in more way than one.  I was intrigued by Rachel’s gift and her missing night from the start.  Harry also had me intrigued.  He believed he could be so bad and yet all his actions proved him to be the best type of man.  Watching as Rachel and Harry worked to solve the duel mysteries of what was going on in the Preserve and Rachel’s missing night told me that there are a lot more cards that need to be turned over there.  I loved how Rachel and Harry solved one part of the mysterious Preserve and saved their future together by coming out the other side.  While the suspenseful plot kept me wondering, I freely admit that one of my biggest joys is watching the evolution of the dust bunnies through all the Harmony planet books.  I just know that there is so much more that we need to learn about them.   The wonderfully suspenseful plot, slight touch of humor and exploding passion make The Lost Night a must read for me.

Those are also some of the reasons, along with the dust bunnies, that I Joyfully Recommend The Lost Night as a do not miss book.  I can’t wait until I can see what happens next on Rainshadow Island and just what the Preserve really is.
