Have you ever gone just a little too far? Lexie Banks has.Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother. In her defense, she was on the rebound, and it's more of a my-dad-happened-to-marry-a-woman-with-a-super-hot-son situation. But still, he's been her best friend and confidant for the better part of the last few years . . . and is so off limits. It's a good thing she's leaving in two days for a year abroad in Rome. But even thousands of miles away, Lexie can't seem to escape trouble. Raised Catholic, she goes to confession in hopes of alleviating some of her guilt . . . and maybe not burning in hell. Instead, she stumbles out of the confessional and right into Alessandro Moretti, a young and very easy-on-the-eyes deacon . . . only eight months away from becoming a priest. Lexie and Alessandro grow closer, and when Alessandro's signals start changing despite his vow of celibacy, she doesn't know what to think. She's torn between falling in love with the man she shouldn't want and the man she can't have. And she isn't sure how she can live with herself either way.
Lexi met Trent when they were both in their early teens—when Lexi’s father started dating Trent’s mother. They became fast friends immediately. Then when Lexi was fifteen and Trent sixteen, after their parents got married, they shared their first kiss. Since then, they’ve been best friends, until the day they became more. Falling in love with her stepbrother sounds wrong on every level. But why does it feel so right?
She had me at the blurb: Have you ever gone just a little too far? Lexie Banks has. Yep. She just had mind-blowing sex with her stepbrother.
Yeah, gotta read that. The blurb assured some hot and dirty sex, but I hoped for more than what sounded like an erotica plotline fromA Little Too Far. I wanted a good story and romance. I was very surprised by the depth of this story.Lexi has premarital sex, she uses the Lord’s name in vain (often), her ex-boyfriend is a cheating jerk, she eats quite a few currant croissants while in Rome, and she hits the taboo list pretty hard by having sex with her stepbrother, and oh, what she does with the priest…. Lisa Desrochers does an excellent job with the characterization and background on Lexi and Trent, which is key for making this story work. It could have gone in another direction, but the heart and soul she gave the characters made it a beautiful, forbidden romance full of angst and tons of emotion. It’s funny at times and brings you to tears in others. It’s sinfully sexy and poignantly romantic. It’s one of those “I read it in one sitting” books. And I can’t get enough of that.
