Laila Prescott is looking for her
brother and needs the services of ex-boyfriend Matthew
Hardin, a private investigator. When she comes face-to-face
with Matthew once again, feelings she suppressed with their
breakup come back to haunt her in the worst way. It seems
that no matter what her mind tells her, her heart and body
refuse to listen.
Matthew Hardin refuses to look a gift
horse in the mouth. If Laila needs his services then she
can very well pay for them – with cash, credit, or her very
attractive and highly arousing body. Matthew didn’t have
his fill of his former girlfriend, and figures there is no
time like the present to get her out of his system. Or so
he thinks.
Reese Gabriel can take a total
scoundrel and make him lovable and that is exactly what he
has done in Laila’s Bargain. I wanted Laila
to tell Matthew to bugger off in no uncertain terms, but by
the time I finished reading this novel, even I loved him.
His no nonsense persona and bad boy attitude just made this
gal’s heart skip a few beats, not to mention the blushing
along the way.
Laila’s Bargain is not as
bondage oriented as most Reese Gabriel novels, but I take
that as a positive. This book shows Mr. Gabriel’s ability
to be versatile as an author and I, for one, am happy to
reap the benefits of such a fun story.
