It
turns out that being an award winning actor of screen and
stage doesn’t hold a candle to nude pictures on the net and
being ‘outed’ by an ex-lover. Donovan ‘Van’ Mackenzie has
learned this lesson the hard way, which is why he’s most
likely taking the lead role at the Globe in the Grove, far
from Broadway and reporters.
A
promising career behind the scenes on Broadway is put on
hold when his mother dies and his father goes to pieces.
Shane Hollister returns to St. Charles and a job at the
Globe in the Grove as an assistant and set designer.
The moment Van spotted Shane at a meeting set up to lure Van
to the theatre he knows he’s in trouble. The chemistry
between them is explosive, but what about the age difference
and Shane’s family responsibilities? Then there’s Van’s
ex-lover who may or may not consider things over. It would
be simpler to go their separate ways, but then again, nobody
ever said that love was easy.
Go
ahead and Shine a Light on this sensual and
satisfying page turner. Well written, intriguing characters
are the focus. Van is picking up the pieces, stumbling, in
shock from a betrayal he never saw coming and Shane, tender
and strong, is the perfect match for Van. Well paced, with
solid secondary characters and the setting is nicely
detailed as well. Shine a Light has steamy
moments – hot enough to fog your glasses - and characters
you will care about. Seriously entertaining and totally
engaging. |
