On his way home from the battlefields,
Prince Tymon stops at a mountain village for the night. At
the home of the head villager, Tymon encounters Arrah of the
Sea People. Tymon desires Arrah and sneaks into her room, as
she lay sleeping; he discovers Arrah bears the mark of his
promised concubine. Arrah doesn’t know she carried the mark,
or that her very life depended on the love of Tymon.
The Sea Maiden’s Mark is a
clever version of The Little Mermaid. As with all good
fantasies, Kate September gives us a villain in the form of an
imposter and her greedy aunt with a dastardly plot. This is a
wonderful story that I enjoyed enormously. |
