Dillon Gavin is not ready to retire. Despite
the lack of excitement in his latest black ops assignments,
partly because of the loss of his partner Lantis, Dillon is
determined to adjust to his new surroundings. Forced to
take a month long R&R, Dillon is looking for both a change
of pace and a fling to take his mind off his troubles. When
he hears that Lantis and Kiera will be attending an art
gallery of his favorite psyprint artist, he decides to join
them. After all, he has always been fascinated with Jourdan
Kane’s work. It shows a depth of feeling and a promise of
hope that he has clung to at times during his missions. He
is excited to be able to share her artwork with the two most
important people in his life, his former partner and his
childhood friend.
Jourdan Kane is not ready to give up her
secrets. She is clairvoyant, and is able to use her gift to
hide her blindness, so that she is still able to see what
her eyes won’t let her. She is also gifted with psychometry,
the ability to see into the past of an object or person when
she touches it. The two gifts together ensure her solitary
nature, but Dillon intrigues her from the first moment he
steps into the art gallery. He intrigues her enough that
Jourdan risks touching him to shake his hand, and ends up
receiving a flood of images from his black ops missions.
Dillon has always wanted to meet Jourdan,
as he is a huge fan of her work. But his first glimpse of
her reveals that she might be someone he could get lost in,
in more ways than one. When she reacts strongly to his
handshake, his interest is piqued, and he is determined to
break through her shell to the woman underneath. Jourdan
can’t understand what it is about Dillon that attracts her
so strongly. Her visions show her that he is a man of
violence, and she knows that he would be dangerous to her
peace of mind. As they give in to their desire, Jourdan’s
happiness is disturbed by images of murder from a pair of
gloves she found at her gallery opening. When an accident
occurs and Jourdan suffers a devastating loss, Dillon is
determined to be by her side. It seems the killer has
locked onto Jourdan, and Dillon must do everything in his
power to protect the woman he loves.
Enticed is a
fabulous follow-up to Kathleen Dante’s Entangled! I found
myself getting lost in the imagery on the pages, the details
of every interaction between these two incredibly appealing
characters. Enticed has
everything that I want in a story: lush characterization,
enough heat to scorch my eyebrows and a mystery strong
enough to keep me turning the pages to find out what happens
next. The secondary characters are amazing, I thoroughly
appreciated the return of Lantis and Kiera from Entangled,
and the addition of Jourdan’s cat Timothy added levity
whenever things got too serious. Kathleen Dante is fast
becoming one of my favorite authors, and I highly recommend
Enticed to any reader looking for
a fabulous release from the everyday.
