Karen Whitmore is tired. Tired of the
constant stress in dealing with an abusive, alcoholic father
and a mother that won’t leave him. Having a spur of the
moment drink in a bar, she meets the eyes of a blond,
extremely good looking man and can’t help but wish for someone
like him to care about someone like her, even if for just one
night. A few drinks later, Karen has her wish.
Dr. Nick Chandler has pretty much given
up hope of finding the siren that seduced and skipped out on
him eleven months ago. That is, until said beauty comes into
the emergency room with a sick baby, a baby that could very
well be his child. Trying to keep his temper in check, Nick
forges ahead with the baby’s exam all the while wanting and
demanding answers that Karen doesn’t really seem to want to
give. All that changes with one simple DNA test and they
decide to try and be parents for their daughter.
They don’t know it yet, but there is a
force fighting against them and her name is Amanda. She wants
Nick back and is willing to kill to achieve her goal.
In
the Nick if Time is the first novel I have read
by Shonna Brannon. I found myself screaming at my palm pilot
because of the way the plot flowed, but in a good way. I
wanted to take Amanda out in the worst way. I have to admire
Nick for the way he accepted Karen and their child into his
life. I thought him quite dreamy.
In the Nick of Time is a great story.
Intriguing and suspenseful, I read it cover to cover. I am
hoping Ms. Brannon releases something else soon because she is
officially on my list of authors to watch |
