Melynda Kerpanik is starting a
new life for herself after ending her marriage and leaving her
home in Kansas. With the chance of a job to help her new
designing career, Melynda has moved to St. Louis to live and
help her cousin design an old warehouse into loft apartments.
Thinking she will be alone in the building, first Melynda is
visited by a bat and then by her very sexy downstairs neighbor
who only goes bump during the night.
Valentine (Val) Drakul has
been living in the world as a human for many, many years and
for the last five of them in the basement of the warehouse.
Val has been waiting for his forever mate for most of his
existence but it is really hard to find a sexy girl that won’t
be freaked out by his diet of really rare steaks and nighttime
living.
Val meets Melynda the first
night she spends in the warehouse and already the sparks are
beginning to fly. Val has decided to get to know Melynda much
better, however there are a few obstacles in his way. Melynda
is a bright daytime person and he is a nighttime person, he is
trying to live his life as human as possible when a relative
shows up wanting him to be all that he can be. Just when Val
and Melynda start to make some headway on their relationship,
an enemy appears who also wants Melynda. Now Val needs to
figure out a way to save Melynda that does not involve
transforming her.
Help! I’m Falling for
the Vampire Next Door
is a fun and funny story involving a creature of the night who
just wants to live like a human and an artistic woman who
tries to see the good side of everything. Val knows that
Melynda is the bright, sexy woman that has been missing from
his life. Melynda can’t understand all the strange things
that are suddenly happening in her life, but she knows that
nothing will make her give up Val now that she has found him.
Val and Melynda end up working together, with help, to defeat
the evil trying to separate them. Not even the startling
truths that Melynda learns of Val can defeat her love.
I had bouts of laughter and
eye rolling while reading about Val and Melynda’s adventures.
Ms. Chatillon has brought humor to all the old stand bys of
the vampire story and it was very refreshing. Even paranormal
lovers need to have some light spice now and then and
Help! I’m Falling for the Vampire Next Door definitely
gives that. I recommend this whether you are a lover of
vampires or comedy; it is perfect for that lazy day read.
