Professor Tessa St. James does not
believe in Camelot, King Arthur, Merlin, or Lancelot. She
teaches her students that the legend of King Arthur is just
that, a legend and has nothing to do with fact. She doesn’t
believe in love and she doesn’t think love will ever find
her which is okay – she is pretty content. Looking forward
to a sabbatical to Greece, she finds herself in the days
before she is supposed to leave researching a book about
Merlin in the library. But something is not right with the
book because every single time she opens it, she finds
something new that she didn’t know before. What is Merlin
trying to tell her? And why would he try and tell her
anything since he is a fairy tale?
I struggled with this review because to
say much more about Believe would be to give
away the story. Tessa does find a knight in shining armor,
but I am going to keep his name to myself. Tessa and her
man fall in love and are willing to do anything to stay
together. However, fate is a funny thing and Merlin is more
than predominant with his sayings and predictions. Just when
I lost hope, a surprise ending to Believe made
ME believe in romance and eternal love. I am so glad this
wonderful historical time travel has been re-released. It
made me laugh, tear up, and smile – just as I remember doing
when it was released in 1998. Now that is a timeless
romance! |
