Interior designer Anna Deveau has made
a pact with her two best friends, Lindsay and Candace, to
swear off men. Given that there’s only one man Anna has
ever truly wanted and he broke her heart back in high
school, keeping to the deal shouldn’t be a problem. When
Anna, Lindsay, and Candace take on an odd client who wants
an old Victorian home restored and turned into an inn for
lovers, it doesn’t help take Anna’s mind off of her
non-existent sex life. Then each woman is asked to design a
room based on their own personal fantasy. Even though Anna
has given up on her dreams of happily ever after, that
doesn’t mean others shouldn’t have their most romantic
fantasies fulfilled. The only complication? The one
bricklayer available to build the fireplace in Anna’s room
happens to be the very man who shattered her dreams. It
seems Daniel Long is back in town and he’s more determined
than ever to make Anna believe in happily ever afters once
again.
Cathryn Fox wraps up her engaging
Pleasure Inn series with the final designer, Anna, finally
getting her own shot at romance. I admit, of the three
stories, All Lit Up was the one I was looking
forward to the most. Anna’s romantic nature appealed to me
and it was with great excitement that I began reading
All Lit Up. Much to my disappointment, Anna and
Daniel do not seem to have matured much past that one point
in high school where both of their hearts were broken.
Unlike the previous two stories in the series, there was no
real life to this tale. Everything seemed kind of
dropped on the page and I formed no emotional attachment to
either Anna or Daniel.
A lackluster finale to the Pleasure Inn
trilogy shouldn’t take away from the fact that the first two
books, All Tied Up and All Worked Up were
incredibly appealing reads. Though each romance stands on
its own, I suggest reading the trilogy in order to better
follow along with the mystical setup of the series, which
also wraps up in All Lit Up. Though All
Lit Up was not for me, I was glad to see Anna
finally get the happy ending she wanted. |
