After recovering from a debilitating
accident, acclaimed artist Beith Molloy books a trip to
Ireland to photograph terns, endangered shoreline birds. Her
guide and good friend, Kemberlee, unexpectedly becomes ill
and can’t join her on her trip. Stranded in Dublin’s
airport, Beith considers going home until she meets Kellan
O’Neill, the guide Kemberlee arranges to escort Beith to the
terns' nesting sites.
Kellan O’Neill is not exactly the man
chosen for the job. He and his brother Declan run a security
business. When the fax of Beith’s photo arrives in their
office, he takes one look at the woman and decides she’d be
perfect for a summer fling. Intercepting her at the airport,
he whisks her away on his Harley to, quite literally, his
castle.
What is supposed to be a simple fling
turns dangerous when the ancient and mythical Hag, Cailleach,
intervenes. Itching for sex, the creature sets her sights on
Kellan. Only Beith has the power to protect him from the
Hag’s clutches. But is she willing to give her heart and
hope to the Irish stranger?
Who doesn’t love a tall, red-headed,
green-eyed Irish hero? Wildish Things offers a
realistic glimpse into the trials faced on a daily basis by
the physically challenged, but the handicap doesn't
overpower the plot. Carolan Ivey’s variation of the
Cailleach Bheur, the Irish Hag legend, is unique and
interesting. There is plenty of sex between hero and
heroine, both previously strangers to one another. The Hag’s
meddling, however, allowed me to believe the quick
attraction was possible. Ms. Ivey’s written a satisfying
novella, perfect for the romance and fantasy lover. Don’t
pass it up. |
