In a post apocalyptic world, Bryn is a “Rose” which is a fancy name for a prostitute. In a world where survival of the fittest is all too apparent, Bryn knows that she is lucky to have a roof over her head and food in her belly.  But Bryn craves so much more, even though being a paid consort is all that she knows.  She longs for freedom, the ability to come and go as she wishes.  She desires comfort from her own kind – after all, why would she want a male to do for free what she gets paid to do, right?  One night, while dressed as a young boy in order to sneak out for cigarettes, Bryn is accosted and saved by two of the most savage and beautiful men she has ever seen.  But then she finds out they are pirates and her whole life changes.

Harshness and violence is predominant in this world built by Lilli Feisty.  Bryn has known both her entire life.  In spite of it all, I still found her to be ladylike and soft, to a point.  The men in her life, Xander and Hawke, are dominant and sexy.  Their love for each other shines in spite of the rough world in which they live and when they draw Bryn into their lives, the trio becomes complete.

The Whore by Lilli Feisty is not pretty, but it is well told.  It isn’t fancy, although the story is excellent.  Love in a futuristic world is the name of the game and The Whore is a searing look at how even love can shine and ease the most wretched of souls.
