“Catnipped”

All Charlie Ledbetter wanted to do was grab a new bone for her dog, Pinky. Instead, she ends up in-between two arguing men and then on the floor and bleeding from a nip. By the time she goes to bed, she is having a serious allergic reaction and not even the Benadryl seems to be working for her now. Enter Luke Piljor, the brother of the man who nipped her. Luke knocks on her door with an amazing story. His brother, Quinn, is also there, but Charlie only has eyes and lust for Luke.  When Luke and Quinn tell Charlie what happened, and that there is a remedy for why her allergies are acting up, Charlie is not sure about it. After all, it is a ritual that has to be done on the night of the full moon and it’s a sex ritual. After finally agreeing, Charlie gets to know Luke better and knows that this is the only brother she wants to have any type of sex with and he isn’t the one needed—or is he? What was caused by a nasty fight in a pet store just might be taken care of by a special night of sex.

“Catnipped” had me giggling and laughing from the first paragraph. Charlie knows that cats are her downfall and takes care to stay away from them. Luke meets Charlie after his brother does something stupid and runs. Luke needs to help Charlie, but he soon regrets the remedy—that is, until he thinks of a way so everyone can get the results they want. When I open up a book from Ms. Cassidy, I expect to find a fun escape. Once again, I have NOT been let down. The way that Charlie was thinking—only I would ever get in this type of situation—was true Cassidy humor. I could not figure out how the ritual could be managed without hurt feelings, but as I turned the pages, I found the perfect solution had been discovered. “Catnipped” will have you biting your lip not to laugh out loud and wake the neighbors or the person next to you. A true must read for anyone who enjoys the zanier side of life.

“Werecat Christmas”

Frankie Lane is stuck in her form of a Persian cat but that is better than the reality of what her parents want for her—a mate that makes her go ewww. Now she is stuck in a dumpster of a Chinese restaurant. Finally, someone has heard her cries but can someone explain to Frankie how being washed up and put in a cage with a big red bow around her neck be any better? She is no one's gift and is just waiting until the cage is opened. Sam Carsters is a very busy criminal defense attorney who never takes that much time for himself—not even around the holidays. Now he has found out that his secretary has given him a gift, a live cat of all things. He doesn't have time to deal with a cat. Too tired to deal, Sam gets home and opens the cage, and then heads to bed. That night his dreams are a bit more erotic than normal.  Frankie realizes that she is in mating fever at the same time she finds out exactly who Sam is. Sam and Frankie come to terms after he recovers from his shock at seeing both her forms. So what if the only man who makes her body stand up and go meow is Sam?

“A Were-Cat Christmas” will keep you giggling the entire time. Frankie runs away to try and figure out what to do when presented with a mate she never wanted. Only, she became stuck in her other form. Sam likes his life as it is, busy with little social life—that is until he is given a unique Christmas present. I'm afraid that I did laugh at Frankie's expense as I discovered her plight to begin with. However, as Frankie and Sam got to know each other and then later separated, there were several times I either wanted to lock them in a room or knock their heads together. I did smile as Sam discovered that even attorneys could learn to give a little. “A Were-Cat Christmas” has a little sweet, a lot of humor and a hint of erotic that altogether combines to make a great Christmas story.

“Werelock”

Addison Ross went on the annual pumpkin hunt and came out with more than just a pumpkin.  First, she found a talisman under her pick and that brought her the sexy man of her dreams.  But all isn't great when Addison learns that a demon wants the talisman and he is going to want it by Halloween.  Addison is all for keeping the thing out of the demon’s hands, especially with Caleb's help.  Caleb Marsden is a werewolf/warlock and also the protector of the talisman.  When Addison picked it up and took it home she actually destroyed the safeguards that Caleb had on it for many years.  Now the only way to protect it and humanity is to use the portal that will open on Halloween night.  Caleb knows that he has a great chance of dying doing his job, and just when he has something to live for too—Addision. Can Addison and Caleb use their wits and power to overcome a demon's sneakiness?

“Werelock” brings a suddenly frisky werewolf/warlock together with an all–work-and-no-play stockbroker, which creates sparks of the erotic type.  Addison loves her niece and nephew and gives in to the pumpkin hunt, which begins her downfall.  Caleb had protected the talisman for over a century when it suddenly became fair game.  He watches while Addison comes to grip with the fact that theirs is an entire world of the paranormal type that she had no idea about.  Not only that, but she had fallen for one member of that world and is being hunted by another.  The teamwork of Addison and Caleb in defeating the demon was truly thinking-on-your-feet ingenuity.  I loved how Caleb came to terms with his new reality with grace and humor.  “Werelock” combined the wonder of falling in love with the risk of letting humanity be destroyed by pure evil along with a great ribbon of humor.

“Confessions of a Wannabe Witch”

Felicity Speillman is on her last chance to earn her broom, which isn't looking too good based on the fact she is dyslexic and can't remember her spells.  One night after drinking too much with friends, Felicity gives a spell one last try.  Imagine her surprise to wake up with a beyond sexy man who looks exactly like her favorite deceased movie star.  And even more amazing, he says that they are married.  With this all on her plate, just how is Felicity supposed to concentrate on her studies and exams?  Christian is a genie that Felicity has released from his bottle. How, neither knows, but she did.  Christian has no intention of being put back into his bottle and decides that a small fib will help keep him not only out of his bottle but also with Felicity, who Christian is longing to really have as his wife.  Now if only he can figure out how to help her earn her broom before anything happens.  Felicity finds out the truth of many things by an unwelcomed visitor. Now both Felicity and Christian are working against time to unlock the truth that can set them both free.

“Confessions of a Wannabe Witch” has a witch who can't get her spells right and a genie who wants to hand pick his new master. Felicity has very little time to make her magic work the way it should.  Christian has finally been released from his bottle and not only does he want to stay out, but he wants to stay with Felicity.  I laughed so many times while following Felicity's tumbling path to magic and love and Christian's way of helping her that always seems to involve sex.  I was surprised at just how Felicity's magic seemed to work right.  Even more so when the fun loving genie, Christian, turned serious in order to protect Felicity.  The truth behind all their problems was just as unexpected. “Confessions of a Wannabe Witch” is a stroll down the rocky and fun path towards love, with unexpected side roads along the way.

Werecats And Werelocks is four stories combining humor and love as only Ms. Cassidy can.  I loved and laughed as I watched Charlie, Frankie, Addison and Felicity discover their happily-ever–after’s with the men of their dreams—even if they didn't even believe that themselves.  I firmly believe that you will want this collection in your library.  Werecats And Werelocks is unexpectedly erotic with that punch of humor and spice that I always expect from Dakota Cassidy.
