Sara is a hard-working -- okay,
workaholic -- doctor on the Eurus colony.
Her best friend has recently gotten married and
bonded to another from this part of the galaxy and while
both love her, she doesn’t seem to take much time for
herself anymore.
Now suddenly she is inexplainably drawn to a
mysterious alien captain who has crash-landed on the colony.
Drawn into a spicy love affair with this man of
mystery, she is surprised to find she is falling in love
with him. But
will he reciprocate the feelings?
Davin has, for a long time, fought his
inner calling.
In fact, he has forsaken his original caste and is now among
the warrior caste of his people.
But he is stunned when the little spit fire of a
doctor ignores her security team and comes to the aid of his
crew members without a moment’s hesitation.
What further surprises him is that she seems willing
to fall into bed with him.
He knows he will be no good for her in the future,
however, so he tries to let her go. But is that what either
of them want?
Or is he jumping to the wrong conclusion?
Suddenly it appears that something is
drastically wrong on this mining colony and it might mean
the death of all of them.
Can Davin put aside his fears and work with Sara to
save their lives?
Can Sara solve the mystery in time, and will she
accept Davin for what he really is?
Wow.
Let me start with wow.
I missed the first story in this series but am
running off to buy it after I finish this review.
What a fantastic series.
The Bond That Heals Us is
the second in what will hopefully be a four-part series by
author Christine d’Abo.
The stories take place on an Earth colony, in space a
couple of hundred years in the future.
We have found other life forms that are compatible
with us and some that are in no way friendly.
Additionally, some things have not changed, including
greed, love, and those who will sacrifice everything to help
others, just because it is who they are.
Ms. d’Abo has captured the essence of not only being
human, but those who strive for the best they can be, and at
the same time have a very vulnerable side.
I could go on and on, gushing about how wonderful
this book was, but that would slow you down from getting it
yourself, or I might accidentally give something away.
Let it be enough that I strongly and Joyfully
Recommend The Bond That Heals Us
as one of my July reads.
