Blue-eyed small-town Ellie Campbell is a
writer mainly of travel articles. One night, on a dare, and
while drunk, she bets that she can write a book on sex. Her
friends laugh at her, because mild-mannered, conservative, sex
challenged Ellie is the LAST person they could think of to
successfully write a book about women seeking, and obtaining,
sexual pleasure. Still drunk, she drops a proposal to her
editor, who accepts. Not knowing how to back out of the deal,
she begins her research, spending time in New York City to do
so.
There, she meets Marius ‘Ash’ Asher, a
sexy, tall black man from Brooklyn. After meeting him in a
deli, she shares with him her research, and he thinks this is
the perfect situation from him: no-commitment sex. After a
bad breakup with a high maintenance woman, Ash, while not on a
complete hiatus from women, certainly does not want to commit
to another relationship that will most certainly end up the
same way. What could be the harm in having some seriously
fabulous sex for the month that Ellie’s in New York?
I loved, loved, loved this book!
The Average Girl’s Guide to Getting Laid is a great
book mixed with life, romance, and laughter. I LAUGHED my
booty off! Annie Dean has a fabulous sense of humor.
Ellie Campbell, the heroine of the story
is sweet, yet feisty, combined with a dash of a wavering
self-esteem due to past relationship failures. She entranced
me, as I could see a little bit of myself in her. Ash is
intensely sexy. Funny, demanding and fiercely devoted to his
family, I wished he’d jump off the pages and into my life.
The sex between these two is so hot, they
practically melt the pages. Bring the oven mitts to this
reading, or your hands will be scorched! I read this book in
one sitting and was saddened when it ended. I can’t wait to
see what Ms. Dean will write next, but in the meantime, I
Joyfully Recommend The Average Girl’s Guide to Getting
Laid. I believe you will enjoy it as much as I did. |
