Slade Bower and Mustang Jackson are
living the life they have always wanted. They are
professional bull riders and near the top in a sport where
the money is big, the bulls are the toughest, and the women
are more than willing. The only thing is that while in
their mid 20’s Slade is starting to think something is
missing in his life. Mustang on the other hand is willing
to keep everything just the same; he loves his life, but
knows his buddy is looking for more.
Then suddenly they meet up with romance
writer Jenna Block who is asking all kinds of questions
about their life. She is such a prim and proper city girl
they are stunned when she agrees to a little 1:2 time with
the guys. But will they all feel the same about each other
after the time they spend together? Can Slade let his heart
lead, or will he be as stubborn outside the ring as he is
known for being inside?
Jenna Block is an accomplished romance
writer who seems to have hit a wall. Her agent thinks she
needs to write something a little different than she is used
to. In fact she suggests a cowboy book with one if not two
heroes. She doesn’t know anything about cowboys but isn’t
willing to give up on her career just yet. So when her
national convention is in the same town as a national
ranking bull riding competition she decides to do a little
research.
Wow! UnRidden is a seriously fast paced and
erotic start to the Studs in Spurs series. Cat Johnson has
shown that she can write something other than the military
romances she is known for, though I hope she keeps writing
those. In UnRidden she again delves into the
world of professional rodeo riding. She takes us into not
only the arena but behind the scenes showing some of the
injuries etc. Then add in the main character is a straight
laced romance writer and you have the makings of a fantastic
story. I laughed at parts and sniffled at others. I look
forward to book two. |
